Olympic Torch is Coming to Toronto!!

On December 17, 2009, the Olympic torch will be in Toronto and then on its way to Vancouver from there. Torontonians are you excited?? Will you be attending and joining in the festivities? Let Dom & I know via our Twitter or on the comments below! We would love to see you there and meet other fellow Olympic fans or Samsung Mobile Explorer contestants. Hopefully we will know by Thursday so we will have something to celebrate in addition!

Inspirational Olympics Torch Carrier

When I read this article in the Metro on the subway today.. I was so touched by this story that I knew I definitely wanted to share it with everyone. Over 12,000 people are selected as torch carriers of the Olympic flame across Canada which mainly consists of community leaders, celebrities, politicians, with a small portion being dedicated to those “chosen for their perseverance in the face of life-threatening adversity”. Greg Shulkin is a great example of someone who has not allowed an unfortunate event in his life that has left him legally blind, unable to walk and dependent on dialysis to see each and every day from living his life. As he puts it, “I just want to show people you can overcome challenges if you put enough effort into it,” said Shulkin. Click on the image above to read more in the Metro today!

63 Days Left Till the 2010 Olympics!

With 63 days left to go for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, we are trembling with excitement! The contest may have ended on Monday this week, but we truly believe that we got what it takes to be YOUR future Samsung Mobile Explorers. This has been an incredible experience and has taught both of us so much in video editing, filming, and truly pushing yourselves beyond your own limits! We have met so many awesome people along the way, from our singing friend in the TTC subway, to the other fellow contestants and to all the awesome supporters that helped us vote in our crazy 10 hour voting spree! We can’t thank you enough!

The coolest thing about this contest has gotta be that not only are they bringing Canadians, but it’s an international contest with close to an astonishing 4500 videos submitted from the United States, China & Russia. We hope we can be your Canadian representatives!

Hi all!

Thanks to everyone who helped us to share and spread the word of our competition yesterday! We can’t tell you how much it means to us that you were all a part of our dream to get to the 2010 Winter Olympics. Here’s an interesting look at the numbers that surrounded our entire campaign in the competition:

Shortly after the competition ended at midnight last night, Dom and I took some time to reflect on what we were able to achieve in the short time we had. Within 10 hours, we went from 22nd ranking to 9th at one point in the night (final rankings are yet to be determined). Imagine if we had found out about the contest before the third week of November.. and rather when it had started early in November. There are no doubts in our mind that we are so proud of what we have accomplished in the hours that we had, and how great of a supportive network we have. None of this would have been possible without all of you voting and helping us send it out and sharing it with your friends!

You’ve cast your votes, the contest has ended and we’re choosing five teams to represent Canada at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Check out the gallery of amazing video entries we received — as you can see, it’s going to be a tough decision!

Few Last Words ..

Thanks for getting us from 22nd place to 9th place in ONE DAY! To sum up our crazy experience so far, the contest opened in early November, and we didn’t hear about it until someone had tweeted it one day in late November. We jumped on it RIGHT away on November 23rd, got together to analyze our competition (only 14 videos at the time!), wrote our script out, filmed for 3 week nights after work, and with 30 hours of video editing using File Maker Pro, After Effects, iMovie, few late nights setting up our WordPress blog, here we are with ONE day to garner as many votes as we can with the highest ranking possible. We’ve seen some incredible support from a number of our friends, fans, and family already and are so so forever grateful. You guys are the best.

We only have 1 hour left until the contest ends tonight and hope that you will all continue to spread our dream amongst your own networks and help us get to Vancouver in 2010 to cover everything that the Olympics has to offer!

Regardless of what happens at the stroke of midnight tonight, we can honestly say that we’ve had a blast working together on this project and this is only going to lead to further opportunities. Major thank you to Samsung & MSN & Vancouver 2010 Olympics for hosting this competition and giving 10 lucky Canadians the chance of a lifetime!
